Librarian vacancy in Kaunas Lithuania

Library Cataloguer (Contract)
As a Library Cataloguer, you will be responsible for organizing and managing the library's collection of books, journals, and other materials. You will use your knowledge of library classification systems and cataloguing techniques to ensure that all materials are properly labeled, catalogued, and available for easy access by library patrons. You will also assist with maintaining library records and managing circulation activities. This is a contract position based in Kaunas, Lithuania and is open to Indian nationals with a salary of $1400 per month.

Responsibilities:
- Organize and classify library materials according to established standards
- Create and maintain accurate catalog records using the library's automated system
- Process new materials by labeling, stamping, and shelving them appropriately
- Assist with inventory management and weeding out outdated or damaged materials
- Provide support to library patrons by helping them locate materials and answering questions about the collection
- Perform circulation tasks such as checking out/in items, collecting fines, and registering new members
- Collaborate with other librarians to develop new services or programs for the community
- Stay informed about current trends in library science and technology

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a librarian or cataloguer
- Knowledge of various library classification systems (e.g. Dewey Decimal System)
- Familiarity with cataloguing rules (e.g. AACR2)
- Proficiency in using automated library systems (e.g. Koha)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills to assist patrons from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Working Conditions:
This is a contract position that requires working 40 hours per week during regular business hours. The successful candidate will work at the Kaunas Public Library located in the city center. This position does not require fluency in English.
