Part-time Librarian
City: Alta, Norway


We are seeking a part-time Librarian to join our team at the Alta Public Library in Norway. As a Librarian, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, managing the library's collection and resources, and promoting literacy and learning within the community.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist library patrons with locating and checking out books, media, and other materials
- Answer reference questions and provide research assistance to patrons
- Manage the library's collection by selecting and ordering new materials, organizing shelves, and weeding out outdated or damaged items
- Plan and promote educational programs and events for all age groups to encourage reading and learning
- Collaborate with local schools, organizations, and businesses to expand outreach and promote library services
- Maintain accurate records of library transactions using a computerized system
- Train volunteers or part-time staff as needed
- Ensure that all library policies are followed by patrons and staff members

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred but not required
- Previous experience working in a library setting is an asset
- Knowledge of cataloging systems and library management software (e.g. Dewey Decimal System)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Fluency in Norwegian is preferred but not required

Working Conditions:
This is a part-time position with flexible hours that may include evenings or weekends. The pay rate for this position is 1300$ per month. This job does not include accommodation.
