Head Chef
As a Head Chef at our upscale restaurant in Funchal, you will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality dishes to our guests. We are seeking a skilled and creative individual with experience in modern international cuisine to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of chefs, ensuring smooth coordination and collaboration
- Create and update menus, incorporating seasonal ingredients and new culinary trends
- Oversee food preparation, cooking techniques, portion control, and plating presentation
- Train and mentor kitchen staff on recipes, cooking techniques, and food safety standards
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed to maintain stock levels
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen
- Collaborate with the restaurant manager to plan special events or promotions
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or similar role in a fine dining establishment
- Extensive knowledge of modern international cuisine, including fusion dishes
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively
- Excellent organization skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail in food preparation, plating presentation, and kitchen cleanliness
- Creativity in developing new dishes while maintaining quality standards
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Culinary Arts or related field preferred
- Proven track record of success as a Head Chef
- Fluent in English (Portuguese proficiency is an asset)
Salary: $1600/month
