Dietitian for Indian Community in Eldoret
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dietitian to join our team in Eldoret, Kenya. As a Dietitian for the Indian community, you will be responsible for providing nutrition counseling and support to individuals of Indian descent, helping them to make healthy food choices and manage any health conditions related to diet. This position requires experience working with the Indian diet and culture, as well as strong communication skills and cultural sensitivity.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual nutrition assessments and create personalized meal plans for clients of Indian descent
- Educate clients on proper nutrition and healthy eating habits based on their specific needs and health conditions
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care for clients
- Provide ongoing support and follow-up to monitor progress and make any necessary adjustments to meal plans
- Stay up-to-date on current research and trends related to nutrition in the Indian community
- Develop educational materials and lead group workshops or classes on healthy eating practices for the Indian population
- Collaborate with local organizations or community groups serving the Indian community to promote healthy eating habits
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Dietitian, preferably with the Indian community
- Strong knowledge of traditional Indian cuisine, dietary practices, and cultural norms related to food
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Cultural sensitivity and understanding of how cultural beliefs may impact dietary choices
- Experience working in a healthcare setting is preferred but not required
- Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Hindi or other Indian languages is a plus
Salary:
The salary for this position is $1500 per month.
Location:
This position is located in Eldoret, Kenya. While preference will be given to candidates who are Indian or have experience working with the Indian community, all qualified applicants are welcome to apply. This is a full-time position, but there may be opportunities for part-time work as well.
