Contract Librarian in Funchal, Portugal


We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Contract Librarian to join our team in Funchal, Portugal. As a Contract Librarian, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the library's collection of books, periodicals, and other materials. You will also assist patrons with finding resources and provide guidance in research methods.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
- Minimum of 2 years experience working in a library setting
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience with cataloging and managing library collections
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Fluency in Portuguese is preferred but not required

Responsibilities:
- Manage the library's collection by cataloging, shelving, and organizing materials according to established systems
- Assist patrons with locating resources and provide guidance on research methods
- Maintain accurate records of library materials including circulation, acquisitions, and inventory
- Develop programs to promote literacy and encourage reading within the community
- Collaborate with other librarians to plan events, workshops, and activities for library patrons
- Stay updated on current trends in library science and implement new technologies or strategies as needed

Salary:
This is a contract position offering a salary of 1100$ per month. Accommodation will be provided during the duration of the contract.

This position is based in Funchal, Portugal.
