Head Pastry Chef
We are hiring a skilled and experienced Head Pastry Chef to lead our pastry department in creating delicious and visually appealing desserts for our restaurant in Nairobi. As the Head Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the pastry kitchen, managing a team of pastry chefs, and creating and implementing new dessert menus. Our ideal candidate is creative, organized, and has a passion for creating high-quality pastries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and oversee the daily operations of the pastry kitchen
- Manage a team of pastry chefs, including scheduling shifts, training, and mentoring
- Create new dessert menus that align with our restaurant's theme and vision
- Ensure that all pastries meet our quality standards for taste, presentation, and freshness
- Order ingredients and supplies as needed and maintain inventory levels
- Monitor food costs and work within budget constraints
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized kitchen
- Collaborate with other chefs to create cohesive menus for events or special occasions
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Head Pastry Chef or similar role
- Culinary degree or diploma in Pastry Arts or related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a high-volume restaurant or bakery setting
- Creative mindset with excellent knowledge of different baking techniques and ingredients
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent time management skills
- Knowledge of food safety regulations
- Strong communication skills
Salary: 1600$ per month (Negotiable based on experience)
Location: Nairobi (Preference for Filipino candidates)
