Preservation Architect
Our architecture firm in Oslo is seeking a skilled Preservation Architect to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a passion for preserving historical buildings and structures, as well as the technical knowledge and expertise to ensure their longevity. This role will involve working closely with clients, contractors, and local authorities to develop preservation plans that meet both aesthetic and structural requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed site assessments and surveys of historical buildings and structures
- Analyze building materials and techniques used in the original construction to determine appropriate preservation methods
- Develop preservation plans that adhere to local regulations and guidelines
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and local authorities to ensure plans are feasible and safe
- Oversee preservation projects from start to finish, including coordinating with subcontractors
- Monitor project progress and address any issues or delays that arise
- Provide regular progress reports to clients and stakeholders
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years experience working as a Preservation Architect
- Extensive knowledge of historical preservation techniques
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
This is a contract position with a competitive salary of $1000 per week. Accommodations will also be provided for out-of-town candidates.
