Information Technology Manager vacancy in Svalbard Norway

IT Manager


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Manager to join our team in Svalbard. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in information technology and be responsible for overseeing the implementation, maintenance, and security of our computer systems and networks.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of our data
- Manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software systems
- Oversee the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of all IT equipment
- Monitor network performance and ensure maximum uptime for all systems
- Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations for system improvements
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations regarding data protection
- Train staff on proper use of computer systems and software applications
- Manage IT budget, including procurement of hardware/software as needed
- Regularly review backup procedures to ensure business continuity in case of system failure or disaster
- Collaborate with other departments to identify technology needs and implement solutions to improve efficiency

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Minimum 5 years experience in information technology management role
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols, operating systems, databases, and security protocols
- Experience managing a team of IT professionals
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically under pressure
- Proven track record in project management, including budgeting, planning, and execution
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively to non-tech savvy individuals
-Prior experience working in a remote or isolated location preferred

We offer a competitive salary package of $900 per month along with accommodation. This is a contract job with an initial duration of 2 years. The successful candidate will be responsible for obtaining their own visa for employment in Svalbard.
