Project Manager for International Development Projects in Kenya
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to oversee our international development projects in Kenya. As a non-profit organization, we work closely with local communities to promote sustainable development and improve living conditions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, particularly in the field of international development. The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. They will also be responsible for managing project budgets and ensuring compliance with donor requirements. This position is based in our office in Atlanta, with frequent travel to Kenya required.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets
- Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
- Coordinate with local partners and stakeholders to ensure effective project implementation
- Monitor project progress and evaluate outcomes against established goals
- Prepare regular reports for donors and stakeholders
- Manage project budgets and ensure compliance with donor requirements
- Provide technical support and guidance to project staff
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor project activities and identify areas for improvement
- Foster relationships with local communities, government officials, and other key stakeholders
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in international development, business administration, or a related field
- At least 3 years of experience in project management, preferably in the field of international development
- Strong understanding of project management principles, tools, and techniques
- Experience working with NGOs or non-profit organizations is preferred
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of donor regulations (USAID, EU) is an asset
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Swahili is an asset
