Preservation Architect - Washington, D.C., USA
We are hiring a skilled Preservation Architect to join our team in Washington, D.C. As a Preservation Architect, your main responsibility will be to assess, plan and execute restoration and preservation projects for historic and culturally significant buildings. Your work will contribute towards maintaining the unique character and heritage of Washington, D.C.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of historic buildings to determine their condition and necessary preservation measures.
- Develop detailed preservation plans including cost estimates, timelines and materials required.
- Oversee restoration projects and ensure compliance with local regulations and preservation standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors and other professionals to ensure the successful execution of preservation projects.
- Monitor project progress and make adjustments as needed to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
- Maintain accurate records of project details, including photos, documents and reports.
- Conduct research on historical buildings or sites to inform preservation efforts.
- Participate in community outreach efforts to promote awareness of historic preservation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working as an architect with a focus on historic preservation.
- Strong understanding of architectural history, styles and building materials used in Washington D.C. from different time periods.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of local building codes, regulations and guidelines related to historic preservation.
- Proficient in AutoCAD or other design software.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
This is a contract position requiring full-time availability for a duration of 6 months. We offer a salary of $1400 per month along with visa sponsorship and travel expenses covered. Accommodation is not provided. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals without prior experience as it offers hands-on experience in the field of historic preservation.
