Preservation Architect
Our prestigious architecture firm in Washington is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Preservation Architect to join our team. As a Preservation Architect, you will be responsible for preserving and restoring historic buildings and structures while adhering to preservation guidelines and regulations. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about preserving our architectural heritage and has a deep understanding of historic building materials, techniques, and technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of historic buildings and structures to determine their condition and preservation needs
- Develop preservation plans that address the unique challenges of each project while staying within budget constraints
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of preservation projects
- Research and analyze historic materials, construction methods, and technologies to determine the most suitable preservation approach
- Create detailed drawings, specifications, and documentation for preservation projects
- Monitor the progress of preservation projects to ensure that work is being carried out according to established plans and guidelines
- Provide guidance and oversight to junior architects or interns working on preservation projects
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Preservation Architect or similar role
- Extensive knowledge of historical building materials, construction techniques, and technologies
- Strong understanding of local, state, and federal preservation guidelines and regulations
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Highly organized with strong project management skills
- Proficient in AutoCAD or similar software
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on restoration projects for national landmarks or historic sites
- Professional licensure as an Architect
- Familiarity with LEED certification process for historic buildings
Salary:
We offer a competitive salary package starting at $1000 per month based on experience.
Location:
This position is located in Washington D.C., however remote work options may be available for highly qualified candidates.
