Job Title: Preservation Architect
Location: Braga, Portugal
As a Preservation Architect, your role will be crucial in preserving and restoring the cultural and historical heritage of buildings and sites in the city of Braga. You will work closely with local authorities, property owners, and other stakeholders to ensure that these structures are maintained in their original state or restored to their former glory.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting thorough assessments of historic buildings and sites to determine their condition and restoration needs
- Developing preservation plans that adhere to local regulations and guidelines
- Collaborating with engineers, construction workers, and other specialists to execute preservation projects
- Utilizing traditional building techniques and materials when necessary to maintain the authenticity of historic structures
- Monitoring ongoing preservation projects to ensure compliance with plans and budget
- Conducting research on the history of buildings and sites to inform restoration efforts
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field
- Proven experience in preservation architecture, preferably in a historical context
- In-depth knowledge of building materials, construction methods, and structural systems used in historic buildings
- Familiarity with heritage conservation laws and regulations
- Excellent project management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders
- Fluency in English (Portuguese proficiency is preferred)
We offer competitive compensation of 1300$ per month along with accommodation. This position is open to candidates of all nationalities; however, applicants must have their own visa for working in Portugal.
