Librarian - Collection Development Specialist

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Collection Development Specialist to join our team in Los Angeles. As a specialist, you will be responsible for developing and managing the library's collections to meet the needs of our diverse community. This includes selecting and purchasing materials, managing budgets, and evaluating the effectiveness of the collection.

Key Responsibilities:
- Select and purchase materials for the library's collections based on community needs and interests
- Manage collection budgets, including tracking expenses and making budget recommendations
- Evaluate current collections and identify areas for improvement or expansion
- Collaborate with other librarians and staff to ensure a well-rounded collection that meets the needs of all users
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and incorporate new formats and technologies into the collection as appropriate
- Develop relationships with vendors, negotiate prices, and maintain accurate records of acquisitions

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field required; Master's degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years experience in collection development or related field
- Strong knowledge of library systems, cataloging, and classification standards
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate collections and make data-driven decisions
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders including staff, vendors, and community members
