Library Assistant


We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Library Assistant to join our team at the Lusail Public Library. As a Library Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the library by assisting with various tasks such as cataloguing, shelving, and customer service. This is a full-time position with a salary of 1500$ per month, and we welcome applicants from all nationalities. No English language proficiency is required for this job.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with cataloguing and organizing library materials according to the Dewey Decimal System
- Shelve and retrieve books, periodicals, and other library materials
- Help maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the library shelves and workspaces
- Provide excellent customer service by answering inquiries, assisting with library card registrations, and helping patrons locate desired materials
- Process returned items by checking for damages or missing pieces, stamping due dates, and re-shelving them accordingly
- Conduct inventory checks to ensure accuracy of records and report any discrepancies to the Librarian
- Assist in planning and executing library events such as book clubs or storytime sessions for children
- Perform basic troubleshooting on library equipment such as computers or printers

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification
- Previous experience working in a library setting is preferred but not required
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Good communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English (for non-native speakers)
- Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team
- Willingness to learn new tasks and adapt to changing situations
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends when needed
