Head Chef


We are in search of a skilled and experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen team at a high-end restaurant in Malindi. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Indian cuisine and be able to create innovative and authentic dishes. They should have excellent leadership skills and be able to manage a team of chefs, ensuring quality and consistency in all dishes served. The Head Chef will also be responsible for menu planning, food costing, and maintaining high hygiene standards in the kitchen. Salary: $1000/month

City: Malindi, Kenya

Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Head Chef in an Indian restaurant
- Extensive knowledge of Indian cuisine, spices, and cooking techniques
- Ability to create unique menu items while maintaining traditional flavors
- Proven track record of managing kitchen operations and leading a team
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and experience implementing them in the kitchen
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Responsibilities:
- Lead the kitchen team in creating high-quality Indian dishes with attention to taste, presentation, and portion control
- Develop new menu items that showcase creativity while staying true to traditional flavors
- Monitor inventory levels and maintain food cost within budget
- Train new kitchen staff on recipes, cooking techniques, and safety procedures
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen at all times
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
- Collaborate with management on menu planning, special events, and promotions
- Conduct regular performance evaluations for kitchen staff members

Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Culinary Arts or related field preferred but not required
- Valid Food Handler's Certificate
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and appliances
- Proficient in English
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a fast-paced environment
