Librarian Assistant


We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Librarian Assistant to join our team at a library in Funchal. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a library setting and possess strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in the daily operations of the library, including checking books in and out, shelving books, and organizing materials
- Help patrons locate materials and provide basic reference services
- Process new materials, including cataloging and labeling
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the library space
- Assist with planning and implementing library programs and events
- Train and supervise student workers or volunteers as needed
- Handle financial transactions, such as collecting fines or fees for lost materials
- Keep accurate records of library usage statistics

Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a library setting preferred
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proficiency with computer systems, including MS Office and online catalog systems
- Knowledge of basic reference resources and research methods preferred
- Experience working with diverse populations preferred

Salary: $1800 per month (negotiable based on experience)

Location: Funchal, Portugal
