Librarian Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and organized Librarian Assistant to join our prestigious library in the vibrant city of Ashdod, Israel. As a Librarian Assistant, you will assist the head librarian in managing and maintaining the library's collection of books, journals, and other materials. This position is perfect for someone who is passionate about books and wants to gain valuable experience in a library setting.

Responsibilities:
- Assist patrons with finding materials and using library resources
- Organize and shelve books according to the library's classification system
- Check in and out materials using the library's computerized system
- Process new materials by cataloging, labeling, and preparing them for circulation
- Maintain the cleanliness and order of the library shelves and work area
- Help plan and implement special events or programs for library patrons
- Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, record keeping, and inventory management

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills for interacting with patrons of all ages
- Basic knowledge of library management software systems (e.g. Koha)
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Fluency in English (Hebrew proficiency is a plus)
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
