Pastry Chef - Dessert Specialist
Shan's premier dessert restaurant is seeking a talented and experienced Pastry Chef to join our team. Our ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and expertise in creating a variety of exquisite desserts, pastries, and baked goods. As the Dessert Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and executing unique dessert menus, managing inventory and ordering supplies, training and supervising pastry staff, and ensuring quality control of all dessert offerings. This position requires creativity, attention to detail, and a passion for producing high-quality desserts. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a dynamic team is essential. Key Responsibilities:
- Create innovative dessert menus that are visually appealing and delicious
- Prepare a variety of desserts including cakes, pastries, tarts, cookies, etc.
- Ensure consistency and high-quality standards for all desserts served
- Train and supervise pastry staff on dessert preparation techniques
- Manage inventory levels of pastry ingredients and supplies
- Oversee the ordering process to ensure timely delivery of necessary supplies
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pastry kitchen area
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends in pastry techniques, flavors, and ingredients
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or Dessert Specialist in a high-volume restaurant or bakery (at least 3 years)
- Extensive knowledge of different baking techniques, flavor pairings, and presentation styles
- Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and motivate a team effectively
- Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of food safety regulations and sanitation practices
- Creative mindset with the ability to develop new dessert recipes that align with our restaurant's theme
- Professional demeanor and positive attitude
- Diploma or degree in Culinary Arts or related field is preferred, but not required
We offer a competitive salary of $1700 per month, with the potential for growth and advancement within our expanding restaurant group. This is a full-time position located in Shan, open to both Canadians and foreigners. No English language proficiency is required, as long as the candidate can communicate effectively with the team.
