Foundryman
A foundryman is responsible for operating and maintaining foundry equipment to produce castings according to specifications. They work with a variety of materials, such as iron, steel, and aluminum, to create molds and castings for various industries. The main duties of a foundryman include preparing molds, melting and pouring metal into molds, removing finished castings from molds, and inspecting them for quality.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare molds by cleaning, coating with release agents, and assembling them according to blueprints or instructions
- Operate melting furnaces to melt metal according to specific temperatures and alloys
- Pour molten metal into prepared molds using ladles or automated pouring machines
- Remove finished castings from the mold after cooling and clean them using various tools and methods
- Inspect finished castings for defects or imperfections using measuring tools such as calipers or micrometers
- Make necessary adjustments to the casting process to ensure quality standards are met
- Maintain equipment by performing routine maintenance tasks and reporting any malfunctions or issues
- Adhere to safety protocols and wear protective gear while working with hot metals and chemicals
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in foundry work is preferred
- Proven experience as a foundryman or similar role in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of foundry processes, materials, and tools used in casting production
- Ability to read blueprints and follow instructions accurately
- Physical stamina to withstand standing for long periods of time, working in hot environments, lifting heavy objects, etc.
- Attention to detail and ability to identify defects or imperfections in finished products
- Good communication skills for collaborating with team members on projects
- Must be willing to work flexible hours including weekends if needed
Salary:
The salary for this position is $1800 per month.
