Librarian Assistant

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our library team as a Librarian Assistant. The ideal candidate will have a passion for books and knowledge, and the ability to assist in managing our library resources effectively.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in organizing and cataloging library materials
- Maintain the library's online database and ensure accuracy of information
- Help patrons locate materials and provide basic reference assistance
- Process new library memberships and maintain member records
- Assist with shelving and maintaining the physical organization of materials
- Support librarians in planning and implementing programs and events, such as book clubs or author visits
- Manage circulation desk, including checking materials in/out and collecting fines/fees
- Keep track of inventory levels and order new materials when necessary
- Help maintain a clean and inviting environment for patrons by tidying shelves, tables, etc.

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred
- Previous experience working in a library or similar setting is a plus
- Familiarity with library systems and databases, such as Dewey Decimal System or Library of Congress Classification system
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proficiency in basic computer skills
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends if needed

This position offers a salary of $1400 per month. It is located in Bungoma, but we welcome applicants from all nationalities who meet the job requirements. This is a part-time position that does not require English proficiency or prior experience. Accommodation is not provided, so candidates living in Bungoma or with their own visa are preferred.
