Executive Chef

The Executive Chef will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the kitchen operations in our upscale restaurant located in Nairobi. This individual must have a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role and be able to lead and manage a team of chefs and kitchen staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fine dining and be able to create innovative menus while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop creative menus that are both visually appealing and delicious, using fresh, seasonal ingredients
- Train and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards
- Manage inventory levels, ordering supplies as needed while staying within budget
- Oversee food preparation, cooking, plating, and presentation to ensure consistency and quality
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, following health and safety regulations at all times
- Collaborate with management to plan special events or promotions, creating unique menu offerings
- Monitor food costs and work with the management team to make adjustments as needed
- Continuously strive for improvement by staying up-to-date on food trends and techniques

Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years experience as an Executive Chef or similar role in an upscale restaurant setting
- Culinary degree or equivalent training preferred
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, motivate, and manage a diverse team
- Excellent knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, sanitation standards, and presentation techniques
- Proven track record of creating innovative menus that meet customer expectations
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with kitchen staff, management, suppliers, etc.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
