Head Pastry Chef
As a Head Pastry Chef for our upscale bakery in Nairobi, you will be responsible for overseeing the creation and production of all pastry items. Your main tasks will include developing new recipes, creating menus, training and supervising pastry staff, and ensuring that all products meet our high standards of quality and presentation.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years experience as a Pastry Chef in a high-end establishment
- Extensive knowledge of pastry techniques, ingredients, and equipment
- Ability to create unique and innovative desserts that reflect current food trends
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and motivate a team
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in the kitchen
- Excellent time management skills to ensure timely delivery of orders
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Responsibilities:
- Develop new recipes for pastries, cakes, breads, and other baked goods
- Create menus that are visually appealing and reflect current food trends
- Train pastry staff on proper techniques and procedures for creating desserts
- Oversee production of all pastry items to ensure quality control
- Manage inventory of ingredients and supplies to ensure timely ordering and restocking
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen according to health codes and company standards
- Collaborate with other members of the culinary team to ensure consistency across all menu items
and provide input on new menu ideas
- Stay updated on industry trends in pastries by attending workshops or conferences
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in culinary arts or relevant field is preferred
but not required
for candidates with extensive experience
as a Pastry Chef.

Salary: $1400 per month (negotiable based on experience)
