Librarian for a Public Library in Oslo, Norway
As a librarian at our public library in Oslo, Norway, you will play a vital role in providing access to information and promoting literacy within the community. You will be responsible for managing the library's collection of books, audiovisual materials, and digital resources. This includes selecting materials for purchase, cataloging items, and ensuring they are easily accessible to patrons.
In addition to managing the library's collection, you will also assist patrons with finding and utilizing resources. This may include helping individuals navigate the library's online catalog, providing research assistance, and answering reference questions. You will also be responsible for planning and conducting programming such as book clubs and children's storytime sessions.
As part of our commitment to promoting literacy, you will also work closely with schools and community organizations to develop outreach programs and partnerships. This may involve coordinating book donations or facilitating workshops on information literacy.
To excel in this role, you should have a strong passion for books and reading, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work well with diverse groups of people. A degree in Library Science or a related field is preferred but not required. Prior experience working in a public library setting is also beneficial.
This position offers a competitive salary of $1700 per month, as well as free visa sponsorship and transportation to Oslo.
