Contract Interpreter - Greenland


We are searching for a highly skilled and experienced contract interpreter to join our team in Greenland. In this role, you will be responsible for providing accurate interpretation services between English and the local language of Greenlandic for a variety of clients.

Responsibilities:
- Provide simultaneous or consecutive interpretation services in a variety of settings such as business meetings, conferences, legal proceedings, and medical appointments
- Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times
- Research and become familiar with specialized terminologies to ensure accurate interpretation
- Act as a cultural liaison between parties when necessary
- Manage scheduling and logistics for interpreting assignments
- Ensure all equipment is functioning properly before each assignment
- Take detailed notes during interpretation sessions to assist with accuracy and follow-up communication
- Adhere to professional standards and code of ethics for interpreters

Requirements:
- Fluency in both English and Greenlandic, both written and verbal
- Minimum of 2 years experience as an interpreter in a professional setting
- Bachelor's degree in translation, linguistics, or related field preferred
- Strong understanding of cultural differences and sensitivity when interpreting
- Excellent time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Familiarity with technology used in interpreting services (i.e. headsets, microphones)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Salary:
The salary for this position is $1200 per month.

Location:
This is a contract position located in Greenland. Accommodations are not provided, therefore candidates must have their own housing arrangements. Visa sponsorship may be available for qualified candidates.
