Temporary Executive Chef
We are currently seeking a skilled and creative Executive Chef to join our team on a temporary basis in Porto. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for cooking and a desire to gain experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment. As our Temporary Executive Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of food preparation and presentation, as well as managing inventory, budgeting, and staffing. You must have a strong understanding of various cuisines and the ability to create unique and delicious dishes using fresh, high-quality ingredients. This position is ideal for someone looking to gain valuable experience in the culinary industry while working alongside experienced professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and oversee daily menu offerings, ensuring variety and quality
- Create new dishes and menu items based on seasonal ingredients
- Train, supervise, and schedule kitchen staff
- Manage inventory levels to minimize waste and maintain freshness
- Monitor kitchen supplies and equipment, coordinating repairs or replacements as needed
- Maintain food safety standards at all times
- Collaborate with other departments (such as event planning or catering) to provide exceptional dining experiences
- Develop relationships with local suppliers to ensure high-quality ingredients are always available
- Stay current on food trends and industry innovations
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a professional kitchen setting
- Excellent knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Ability to create unique dishes that balance flavor profiles with visual appeal
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor others
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Availability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
Salary:
This is a temporary position offering a salary of $1600 per month.
