Pastry Chef for Kenyan Restaurant in Clairvaux
We are seeking a skilled and creative Pastry Chef to join our team at a Kenyan restaurant in Clairvaux. As the Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for creating and preparing a variety of desserts, pastries, and breads. Your main goal will be to provide our customers with delicious and visually appealing treats that will keep them coming back for more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute pastry menu items, taking into consideration dietary restrictions and customer preferences
- Prepare doughs, batters, fillings, icings, and other ingredients according to recipes
- Monitor inventory of baking ingredients and supplies and place orders when necessary
- Train and supervise junior pastry chefs and kitchen staff on proper techniques and food safety standards
- Ensure all desserts are presented in an attractive manner
- Collaborate with other chefs to create new menu items or themed desserts for special events
- Maintain a clean and organized work station at all times
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or similar role
- Knowledge of different baking techniques, ingredients, equipment, and sanitation standards
- Creativity in design and execution of pastry items
- Attention to detail in presentation of desserts
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent time management skills
- Willingness to learn new techniques and recipes
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with East African cuisine or pastries is highly desirable
- Fluent English skills
- Kenyan nationality or familiarity with Kenyan food culture
Salary: $1200 per month (negotiable based on experience)
