Contract Librarian in Herning, Denmark



We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Contract Librarian to join our team in Herning, Denmark. As a Contract Librarian, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the library, including cataloguing and organizing materials, assisting library patrons with research and information requests, and developing and implementing library programs and events.

Responsibilities:
- Manage the circulation of library materials, including checking in and out books, maintaining borrower records, and collecting fines for overdue items
- Catalogue new materials using the Dewey Decimal System or Library of Congress Classification System
- Organize and shelve materials according to established classification systems
- Assist patrons with research inquiries and locating resources both physically and digitally
- Develop and implement programs and events to promote literacy, information literacy skills, and community engagement
- Maintain accurate records of library usage statistics
- Collaborate with other librarians to develop collection development strategies
- Monitor budget expenditures for library materials
- Stay current on industry trends in librarianship and technology to improve services offered by the library

Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library Science or Information Science from an accredited institution (or equivalent experience)
- Experience working in a public or academic library setting preferred
- Proficient in using online catalogues, databases, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant software
- Knowledge of cataloguing systems such as Dewey Decimal Classification or Library of Congress Classification preferred
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to assist diverse patrons effectively
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Fluency in English (Danish language skills are a plus)
Salary: $1400 per month
Location: Herning, Denmark
Contract: 1 year (with possibility for extension)
