We are a reputable restaurant in Nairobi, Kenya searching for an experienced Pastry Chef to join our team. As a Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for creating delicious pastries and desserts that will delight our customers. The ideal candidate will have a passion for baking and a creative flair to develop new and unique recipes. You must have previous experience working in a high-volume kitchen and be able to work well under pressure. Attention to detail and knowledge of food safety guidelines is essential. Salary: $1800/month
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and prepare pastries, desserts, cakes, and breads according to menu specifications
- Develop new pastry recipes while keeping up with industry trends
- Ensure all products are consistently high quality and presentable
- Collaborate with other chefs to create balanced menus
- Maintain cleanliness of work station and adhere to food safety standards
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and place orders as needed
- Train and supervise junior pastry chefs as needed
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience as a Pastry Chef in a high-volume kitchen
- Diploma in Culinary Arts or relevant field
- Knowledge of various baking techniques, methods, and equipment
- Creativity and ability to develop new recipes
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Attention to detail
- Knowledge of food safety guidelines
- Excellent communication skills
- Team player
