We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our team in Funchal on a contract basis. As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining our company's databases, ensuring data security and integrity, and optimizing database performance. This position requires prior experience in database administration and the ability to work with various database management systems.

Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain databases
- Monitor database performance and troubleshoot any issues that arise
- Ensure data security by regularly backing up databases and implementing security measures
- Optimize database performance by tuning queries, indexing tables, and managing resources
- Collaborate with development teams to design and implement new databases or modify existing ones
- Regularly perform data maintenance tasks such as data archiving, purging, and reorganization
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in database management

Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role
- Extensive knowledge of database management systems such as MySQL, Oracle, or SQL Server
- Familiarity with operating systems (e.g. Windows, Linux) and server-side scripting languages (e.g. SQL)
- Experience in database performance tuning and optimization techniques
- Strong understanding of data security principles and best practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred
