Typesetter (Entry Level)
A typesetter is responsible for the layout and formatting of written materials, such as books, magazines, or newspapers. They work closely with editors and designers to ensure that the final product is visually appealing and error-free. As an entry level typesetter in our company based in Bergen, you will be responsible for setting and arranging type using a variety of software programs. This includes selecting fonts, adjusting spacing and kerning, and making sure that text is aligned correctly on the page.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with editors and designers to understand project requirements
- Use software programs such as Adobe InDesign or QuarkXPress to set type
- Select appropriate fonts and adjust spacing and kerning for optimal readability
- Ensure consistency in style and formatting throughout the document
- Proofread text for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors
- Make necessary adjustments to ensure text is aligned correctly on the page
- Meet tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field preferred
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign or QuarkXPress
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements
- Experience with proofreading is a plus
