Library Coordinator
The Library Coordinator will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the library in Bergen, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of all library services. This role requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a passion for books and knowledge. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a library setting, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the library's circulation desk, including checking materials in and out, processing holds, and managing fines
- Maintain accurate records of library materials, including cataloging new items and updating existing records
- Assist patrons with reference and research inquiries, both in person and over the phone
- Plan and coordinate library programs and events for all ages, such as book clubs, storytimes, and author visits
- Train and supervise library assistants to ensure high-quality service to patrons
- Monitor inventory levels of supplies and order new materials as needed
- Stay up-to-date on current trends in literature and technology to provide recommendations to patrons
- Handle any issues or complaints from patrons with professionalism and efficiency
- Collaborate with other departments within the organization to promote library services
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years experience working in a library setting
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proficient in using library management systems
- Knowledge of current literature trends
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Must have accommodation in Bergen
- Must have a biometric passport (or be willing/able to obtain one)
