Smelter Operator



Our smelting company in Nakuru is seeking a skilled and reliable Smelter Operator to join our team. As a Smelter Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining smelting equipment to extract metal from ore, scrap, and other materials.

Responsibilities:
- Operate smelting equipment, including furnaces, ovens, and converters
- Monitor the smelting process to ensure proper temperature, pressure, and chemical composition
- Load materials into the smelting equipment and adjust controls as needed
- Remove impurities from the molten metal using various methods such as skimming or adding flux
- Monitor and maintain the flow of materials through the smelting process
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor repairs as needed
- Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety protocols and guidelines
- Record production data and maintain accurate records of materials used and produced

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in metallurgy or related field preferred
- Previous experience operating smelting equipment preferred but not required
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and chemicals
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions
- Good mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise
- Willingness to work flexible hours including nights and weekends if necessary
