Junior Librarian



We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Librarian to join our team at a public library in Lisbon. As a Junior Librarian, you will assist in various tasks related to the management and organization of library materials, as well as provide support to library patrons. This is an ideal position for someone without prior experience in the field who is looking to gain valuable skills and knowledge while working in a diverse and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:
- Assist with the cataloging and shelving of library materials
- Provide circulation services, including checking out and returning items, issuing library cards, and collecting fines
- Answer patron inquiries in-person and over the phone
- Assist with collection maintenance, including weeding and inventory tasks
- Participate in programming and outreach activities
- Monitor the library for cleanliness and organization
- Collaborate with other staff members on special projects or events

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field (or currently pursuing)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proficiency with basic computer programs (i.e. Microsoft Office)
- Prior experience working in a customer service or administrative role is a plus

Salary:
This position offers a competitive salary of $1500 per month.

Lisbon, Portugal (visa sponsorship available)
