Executive Chef

The Executive Chef will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the kitchen operations in a fast-paced, high-end restaurant in Funchal. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience as an Executive Chef in a similar setting, strong leadership skills, and culinary creativity. As the leader of the kitchen team, the Executive Chef will be responsible for menu creation and execution, maintaining food quality and safety standards, managing inventory and budgeting, and training and developing kitchen staff. This is a contract position without accommodation provided. Preference given to candidates with Portuguese or international cuisine experience.

Salary: $1100 per month

Responsibilities:
- Oversee all kitchen operations including food preparation, cooking, plating, and presentation
- Create and execute menus that are innovative and reflect current culinary trends
- Ensure food quality and safety standards are met at all times
- Manage inventory levels to minimize waste and control costs
- Develop and maintain relationships with local suppliers to ensure high-quality ingredients are consistently available
- Train and mentor kitchen staff to maintain high standards of performance
- Lead by example by demonstrating excellent cooking techniques, organization skills, and time management
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen at all times
- Monitor budget performance by analyzing costs against sales to ensure profitability

Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an Executive Chef in a high-end restaurant setting
- Strong knowledge of Portuguese or international cuisine
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members
- Creative mindset with a passion for creating unique dishes
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations
- Proven track record in menu development and execution
- Experience with budgeting, cost control, and inventory management
