Executive Chef
We are hiring an experienced Executive Chef to oversee our kitchen operations and lead our culinary team. Based in Nairobi, this position is ideal for a skilled chef with a passion for creating delicious and innovative dishes using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. As the Executive Chef, you will be responsible for menu planning, food preparation, inventory management, and ensuring the highest quality standards are met. The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in a similar role, strong leadership skills, and a creative flair in the kitchen. Salary: $1600 per month.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an Executive Chef or Sous Chef.
- Culinary degree or equivalent training preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to create menus that cater to diverse tastes and dietary restrictions.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor team members.
- Proven track record of managing inventory and controlling food costs.
- Creative thinking and ability to innovate new dishes while staying true to traditional flavors.
- Passion for using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all kitchen operations including food preparation, cooking, plating, and presentation.
- Plan menus that incorporate seasonal produce and cater to diverse dietary preferences.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, and presentation.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques and adhere to food safety standards.
- Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate supply while minimizing waste.
- Create new dishes or modify existing ones based on customer feedback or ingredient availability.
- Collaborate with restaurant management on budgeting and cost control strategies.
- Build relationships with local suppliers to ensure consistent access to high-quality ingredients.
