Sous Chef - Malayalee Cuisine
We are looking for a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our team in Los Angeles. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Malayalee cuisine and a strong background in preparing and cooking traditional dishes. As a Sous Chef, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in planning menus, managing kitchen staff, and ensuring the quality of food and service. This position requires excellent leadership skills, creativity, and the ability to work well under pressure. A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef in creating menus that feature authentic Malayalee dishes
- Train and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to food safety standards
- Oversee all aspects of food preparation, including chopping, marinating, and cooking
- Monitor food quality and presentation to maintain high standards
- Manage inventory and ensure all ingredients are fresh and properly stored
- Collaborate with other chefs to create new dishes and improve existing ones
- Adhere to health code regulations at all times
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area
Requirements:
- A passion for Malayalee cuisine and a deep understanding of traditional dishes
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate others
- Creativity in developing new dishes while maintaining authenticity
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and preparation techniques
- Knowledge of food safety regulations
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Availability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
Salary: $1500 per month
Location: Los Angeles (Preference for Malayalee candidates)
