Indian Executive Chef (Nakuru, Kenya)
We are in search of an Indian Executive Chef to lead our kitchen team at our upscale restaurant in Nakuru, Kenya. As an Executive Chef, you will be responsible for creating and implementing menus that showcase traditional Indian cuisine with a modern twist. You will also oversee the preparation and presentation of all dishes, maintain food quality and safety standards, and manage the kitchen staff.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement creative menus that feature authentic Indian dishes with a modern twist
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of all food items to ensure consistent quality and presentation
- Train and manage the kitchen staff, including scheduling shifts, delegating tasks, and providing guidance as needed
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed to ensure efficient operation of the kitchen
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in accordance with local regulations
- Collaborate with other department heads to ensure smooth operation of the restaurant as a whole
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Executive Chef or similar role in an upscale restaurant setting
- Extensive knowledge of traditional Indian cuisine and cooking techniques
- Ability to create new dishes while maintaining authenticity and quality
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, mentor, and motivate kitchen staff
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Good communication skills in English
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts or related field preferred
- Certification from a culinary school is a plus
- Previous experience working in a similar position in Kenya is preferred
Salary: $900 per month
