Librarian - Mombasa, Kenya



A reputable library in Mombasa is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Librarian to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the library's collection of books, periodicals, and other resources, as well as providing assistance to library patrons.

Responsibilities:
- Selecting and acquiring new materials for the library's collection
- Cataloging and classifying books and other materials using the Dewey Decimal System
- Maintaining accurate records of all materials in the library's collection
- Assisting patrons with locating and accessing resources
- Providing reference services and answering research inquiries
- Organizing and promoting educational programs and activities for library patrons
- Managing library budget and purchasing new materials within budget constraints
- Collaborating with other staff members to plan and implement events and programs

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years experience working in a library setting
- Familiarity with cataloging systems such as Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress Classification
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite

Preference will be given to candidates who:
- Have experience working with diverse populations, particularly Indian communities.
- Can communicate fluently in Hindi or another Indian language.
- Are able to live on-site in provided accommodation.
