Sous Chef - International Cuisine

We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our team in Eldoret, Kenya. Our restaurant specializes in international cuisine, with a focus on Canadian dishes. As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to oversee the daily operations of the kitchen and ensure high-quality food preparation and presentation. You will also be responsible for managing and training kitchen staff, maintaining inventory levels, and creating new menu items. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Canadian cuisine and be passionate about creating delicious and innovative dishes. Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Head Chef to plan menus and create new dishes
- Oversee daily food preparation to maintain quality standards
- Train and manage kitchen staff, including scheduling shifts and delegating tasks
- Ensure proper storage and rotation of all food items
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders when necessary
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen at all times
- Assist with budgeting, cost control, and menu pricing decisions
- Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate them into menu planning
- Handle any customer inquiries or complaints related to food quality or presentation

Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sous Chef in a fast-paced restaurant setting
- Strong background in Canadian cuisine is preferred
- Culinary degree or equivalent certification is an asset
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to train, motivate, and manage a team
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Knowledge of food safety regulations
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Salary: $900 per month

Location: Eldoret, Kenya - Candidates from Canada are preferred
