Librarian Assistant
The Funchal Public Library is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Librarian Assistant. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the head librarian with various tasks related to managing the library and providing excellent customer service to our patrons. This is a full-time position with a salary of $900 per month.
Responsibilities:
- Assist head librarian with collection management, including cataloging and shelving books
- Provide friendly and efficient customer service to library patrons
- Assist with organizing and leading library programs and events
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of library space
- Help with administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and processing book requests
- Stay up-to-date on new books, materials, and technologies in the field of librarianship
- Collaborate with other library staff to ensure smooth operations
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred
- Previous experience working in a library or customer service setting
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proficiency in using library systems and technology
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks
- Ability to lift heavy boxes of books (up to 25lbs)
Preference will be given to candidates who are fluent in Portuguese.
