Sous Chef
As a Sous Chef at our restaurant in Funchal, you will work alongside the head chef to create and execute a variety of high-quality dishes. Your role will involve overseeing the kitchen staff, managing inventory and ordering supplies, and ensuring that all dishes are prepared and presented according to our standards. You will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, as well as assisting with menu planning and recipe development.
We are looking for a creative and experienced Sous Chef who is passionate about food and has a strong understanding of different cooking techniques. The ideal candidate should have excellent leadership skills, the ability to work well under pressure, and a keen eye for detail. A culinary degree or equivalent experience is required for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the head chef to develop new menu items
- Assist with planning and organizing kitchen operations
- Train and supervise kitchen staff on proper techniques and procedures
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
- Ensure all dishes are prepared according to recipes and presented in an aesthetically pleasing manner
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen
- Assist with developing menus that cater to dietary restrictions or seasonal ingredients
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth service during peak hours
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a sous chef or similar role in a high-end restaurant
- Strong knowledge of various cooking techniques, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively
- Organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and passion for creating visually appealing dishes
- Ability to work well under pressure
