Head Pastry Chef
We are seeking a skilled and creative Head Pastry Chef to join our team at a luxury hotel in Faro, Portugal. As the Head Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the pastry department, including menu planning, recipe development, and managing a team of pastry chefs.
Responsibilities:
- Create and develop new pastry recipes while also maintaining existing ones
- Ensure high quality and presentation of all pastries and desserts served
- Manage inventory and ordering of all pastry ingredients and supplies
- Train and mentor pastry team members to maintain consistency in quality and presentation
- Collaborate with the executive chef to create seasonal menus and specials
- Oversee production schedules to ensure timely delivery of pastries for events and service
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pastry kitchen
- Monitor food costs and work within budget constraints
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Head Pastry Chef or similar role
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, equipment, safety standards
- Creativity in developing new pastries while also upholding traditional techniques
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and manage a team
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail with a focus on presentation
- Fluent in English (Portuguese proficiency is a plus)
Salary: $1400/month (negotiable based on experience)
