The Almada Public Library is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Librarian to join our team. As an Assistant Librarian, you will work closely with the Head Librarian to provide exceptional customer service and assist with daily library operations.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing circulation desk duties such as checking in/out materials, answering phone calls, and assisting patrons with library services
- Catalogue new materials and maintain accurate records of library holdings
- Conduct reference interviews and assist patrons in locating materials
- Assist with collection development by recommending new titles and weeding out outdated materials
- Plan and implement library programs and events for all ages
- Monitor library inventory and order necessary supplies
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as needed

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred, but not required
- Previous experience working in a library setting is a plus
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proficiency in using computer systems for cataloguing, circulation, and reference services
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed

We offer a competitive salary of 1000$ per month for this full-time position. Although previous experience is preferred, we are open to considering candidates without experience who possess the necessary skills and qualifications.
