Senior Accountant

As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the financial operations of our company in Svalbard. You will work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, budget management, and financial reporting. Your role will also involve identifying areas for cost savings and implementing strategies to improve overall financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
- Manage cash flow and monitor budget variances
- Analyze financial data to identify areas for cost savings and revenue growth
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts
- Review internal controls to ensure accuracy of financial records
- Train and mentor junior accounting staff
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and recommendations

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years experience in accounting or finance role, with at least 2 years in a senior position
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks)
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously within tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English (knowledge of Norwegian is a plus)
