Contract Librarian in Svalbard

A reputable organization in the beautiful city of Svalbard is seeking a skilled and passionate Contract Librarian to join our team. As a Contract Librarian, you will be responsible for providing exceptional library services to our community, including organizing and maintaining collections, assisting with research needs, and promoting library resources and programs. This is a contract position with a competitive salary of $1100 per month and includes accommodation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain the library's collection of books, periodicals, audiovisual materials, and other resources
- Assist patrons with research needs by locating information and providing guidance on the use of library resources
- Promote library resources and programs through outreach efforts such as creating displays, leading workshops, or participating in community events
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient operation of the library
- Keep current on new developments in library science to enhance services offered to patrons
- Collaborate with other staff members to plan and coordinate programs or events for the community

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred
- Previous experience working in a library setting is an asset but not required
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to provide friendly customer service
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Working Conditions:
This is a contract position for 6 months with potential for extension. The work schedule will be 35 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends. Accommodation will be provided for the duration of the contract.
