Librarian

A library in Svalbard is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Librarian to join our team. As the sole librarian in this remote city, you will play a crucial role in providing access to knowledge and resources to the community.

Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of the library including collection development, cataloging, circulation, and reference services
- Develop and implement programming and events to promote literacy and engage the community
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting patrons with locating materials, answering questions, and resolving issues
- Maintain library materials by shelving, organizing, and repairing as needed
- Oversee the library budget and make responsible purchasing decisions
- Stay up-to-date with current trends in library science and technology

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
- At least 2 years of experience working in a library setting
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Familiarity with library systems such as Dewey Decimal Classification

Preferred:
- Experience working with diverse communities
- Experience developing programming for children or adults
- Knowledge of Norwegian language

Salary: $1300/month (negotiable based on experience)
