Head Chef
As the Head Chef of our fine dining restaurant in the beautiful city of Svalbard, you will be responsible for creating and executing an exceptional culinary experience for our guests. This is a hands-on role that requires a creative and innovative chef with a passion for using local and seasonal ingredients.
Responsibilities:
- Develop menus that reflect the unique flavors and culture of Svalbard
- Train and supervise kitchen staff to ensure high-quality food preparation
- Oversee inventory management and ordering to maintain cost control
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment
- Ensure all food safety regulations are followed at all times
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to deliver a seamless dining experience for guests
- Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate new techniques into menu development
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or similar role in a high-end restaurant
- Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment
- In-depth knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and techniques
- Creative approach to menu creation with an emphasis on utilizing local ingredients
- Strong understanding of food costs and inventory management
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with kitchen staff and front-of-house team
- Up-to-date knowledge of food safety regulations
Qualifications:
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Head Chef or similar role
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- Proficiency in English (knowledge of Norwegian language is an asset)
We offer competitive compensation, including a salary of $1400 per month.
