Head Pastry Chef

Are you a skilled and creative pastry chef with experience in leading a team? Do you have a passion for creating delicious and visually stunning desserts? Our luxury hotel in Svalbard is seeking a Head Pastry Chef to join our culinary team. As the Head Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our pastry department, from menu creation to staff management. Your main goal will be to delight our guests with your delectable creations while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation. This is a full-time position, offering a competitive salary of 1300$ per month.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and update menu items for our pastry department, taking into consideration current trends, seasonal ingredients, and guest preferences
- Train and supervise junior pastry chefs, ensuring that they follow recipes and maintain consistent quality
- Manage inventory levels and order necessary supplies to maintain efficient operations
- Oversee food preparation and plating techniques to ensure beautiful presentation
- Monitor food costs to stay within budget while maintaining high-quality standards
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times

Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or similar role in a high-end establishment
- Creative flair and passion for creating unique dessert offerings
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team
- Extensive knowledge of various baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent time-management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively

Preferred qualifications:
- Culinary degree or equivalent certification from an accredited institution
- Previous experience as a Head Pastry Chef or similar supervisory role
- Familiarity with Scandinavian cuisine
- Fluency in English (additional languages are a plus)
