Carpenter - Contract Position in Svalbard

As a Carpenter in Svalbard, you will be responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining wooden structures and fixtures on our project site. This is a contract position with a salary of 1700$ per month and includes accommodation. This job is suitable for men who have experience in carpentry and are willing to work in the unique environment of Svalbard.

Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine materials required
- Measure, cut, shape, join, and assemble wooden parts according to specifications
- Install structures such as scaffolding, framing, and walls
- Repair or replace damaged or rotting wood structures
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets standards and complies with building codes
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols on the job site

Requirements:
- Proven experience as a carpenter or similar role
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Knowledge of wood properties and other construction materials
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery
- Physically fit with good manual dexterity
- Attention to detail and accuracy in measurements
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification from a vocational school or apprenticeship program in carpentry
- Previous experience working on construction sites
- Experience working in remote or extreme environments
- Familiarity with building codes and regulations in Svalbard
