Preservation Architect
City: Oslo, Norway
A Preservation Architect is responsible for preserving and restoring historical buildings and structures. They work closely with historical societies, local governments, and property owners to ensure the preservation of cultural heritage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed surveys of historical buildings and structures to assess their condition
- Develop preservation plans and strategies based on research and analysis
- Prepare architectural drawings and design specifications for restoration projects
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and other professionals to oversee restoration projects
- Ensure that all work complies with local codes, regulations, and preservation standards
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders
- Conduct site visits to inspect work in progress and identify any issues or concerns
- Provide guidance on appropriate materials, methods, and techniques for preserving historical structures
- Research historical building techniques and materials to inform restoration processes
- Prepare reports on the history, significance, and condition of buildings
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or a related field
- At least 2 years of experience working in preservation architecture
- Strong knowledge of historical building techniques, materials, and preservation standards
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or other architectural drafting software
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Attention to detail
- Strong project management skills
Preferred:
- Previous experience working with historical societies or local governments
- Knowledge of Norwegian architectural history
Salary: 1500$ per month (negotiable based on experience)
